Definition
The Okta draft describes an agentic application as a software application that hosts or provides access to one or more agents. It is a container and runtime for them, managing their authentication, authorization and access to resources.
Attributes, as WorkOS read them
WorkOS, in its October 2025 article, lists these attributes: name (required), displayName, description, active, applicationUrls, oAuthConfiguration, agents, externalIdentifiers and lastAccessed. Agents pointed back to applications through an applications attribute, with reference types of owned, authorized or guest, again per WorkOS.
Where it went
The joint draft defines only the Agent resource. The earlier Wahl draft had a lighter idea of the same thing: an agenticApplicationId on each identity so a service could correlate several identities of one application.
If you see /AgenticApplications listed as part of SCIM for agents, check the date of the source. It comes from the earlier proposal.
