agentUserName
agentUserName is the unique identifier of an agent inside a provisioning domain, similar to a user's userName or email address.
| Defined in | draft-wzdk-scim-agent-resource-00 |
|---|---|
| Type | string |
| Required | Yes |
| Case exact | No |
| Uniqueness | server |
What the draft says
The value is a string that "SHOULD be human-readable and MUST be unique across all Agent resources in the provisioning domain". The schema example marks uniqueness as server, so the service enforces it.
Case
The schema example sets caseExact to false. In RFC 7643 that means the string is not case sensitive, so Helpdesk-Bot and helpdesk-bot would be the same name to the service.
Why it exists
A human readable name like displayName is not unique. The service also assigns its own id. agentUserName is the name that a client and a human can both use to find the same agent, the way a user name does for a person.
Practical note
Pick a naming rule before you create agents, such as team, purpose and environment. The draft does not set one. Renaming later is possible because the attribute is readWrite, but any system that stored the old name has to be updated too. See our inventory guide.
Example
From the instance example in the joint draft.
